Plataforma is the first investigation of the Lab for Alternate Reality Platforms (LARP), which speculates on the lived experience of platforms. It responds to a growing emphasis on futurology in contemporary art and design, where speculative scenarios elaborate possible technological and political agendas, typically with a bias toward visual media and computer graphics. I am generally interested in the political economy of these speculations, as well as how their aesthetics circumvent considerations about material, epistemic and political complexity. In Plataforma, a voiceover reflects on the meaning of a speculative sci-fi scenario. The scenario is ambiguously located in no place and no time, which is an essential aspect of developments today that pave over histories of repression and resistance. In Plataforma these elisions manifest as a sense of anxiety about the scene's purpose and origin.
